May the Iron Bowl 2013 Legacy Live Forever

Iron BowlSome may hate me for saying this, but the college football season this year has been pretty boring. Some of the best teams have been playing really non-competitive schedules, and I can’t remember the last time that I watched a close game (especially one that wasn’t close because both teams were terrible).

But then, something magical happened. That magical thing, as you may have guessed, was the Iron Bowl. One of the best rivalries of all time gave us one of the best sports moments of all time. This game, unlike any others this year, will live on in sports history. And we are so thankful to the guys down south for this.

I am not a die-hard Alabama or Auburn fan, but I always tune into the game out of idle curiosity. I can’t imagine what it would be like as a true fan to watch Chris Davis running back Alabama’s failed field goal attempt for a 100+ yard touchdown to win the game. As it was, I actually knocked over a  bowl of popcorn and a bottle of beer during the excitement (don’t worry, it was almost empty).

I may be a selfish football fan for saying this, but I hope that plays like this inspire coaches to make bold moves. Try new things. Make a legacy. And above all, remember that football is a spectator sport. Fans win games. And I can tell you now, I am a big fan of Auburn.

Watch the play here.
