O-H-I-O! Are your ready for a sports vacation unlike any other? Take two weeks, a car, a group of buddies, and set off an adventure like no other to see the greatest sporting events north of the Ohio river. Rev up the engine grab the face paint, cooler, and tailgate accessories, it’s time to start your Ohio sports vacation.
In order to gain the overall sports experience of Ohio the trip needs to happen in the fall.
The “Dawg Pound”
Begin the trip on the shores of Lake Erie with a baseball game at Progressive Field to watch manager Terry Francona and the Indians battle for the AL Central Division Championship. If your lucky you might get to help bang one of the outfield drums in an
attempt to psych out an opposing pitcher.
The next day scoot on down to FirstEnergy Stadium and join the “Dawg Pound” in watching the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. By next fall who knows, you might be able to watch Johnny Football throw a touchdown…or an interception.

Okay, you’ve probably heard it enough by now – Alabama won the BCS championship. As much as I was rooting for the underdog, the outcome wasn’t much of a surprise. The only negative about it was listening to my stepdad walk around the house shouting “Roll Tide Roll!” and “Back to Back!” After about 2 or 25 times, it gets old. I can’t blame him for being excited, though. Having back-to-back championships is an impressive accomplishment. Nick Saban gets a pat on the back.
I tried to have a normal lunch today, but there was no way to do it. After three minutes of banter with a friend he inevitably asked me, “So what do you think about the Penn State situation?”
Damn. I really thought I would be able to just eat a sandwich and move on with my day. No such luck. I instead forced myself to probe my feeble brain for what I thought of the whole thing, something I had avoided until then. And here’s what came to my mind:
